Wow. Very impressive work.

I could never understand how people can be so proficient with traditional medium.
Still can't actually :p

Looks like it scanned a bit weirdly in the orc's armpit. How DID you scan this anyway? don't tell me you actually took photos of it and then glued them digitally?

Dam! So much more work and hardship compared to "tablet-users".
Very admirable.

Cheers m8.

Sarcolea responds:

Thank you so much for your kind comment. I had to scan in each half of the painting separately and stick it together. I know it doesn't quite look right but it's the best I can do :).

Hah. This is good.
Made me chuckle :D

I'd personally go with more heat and flame radiating out of the mage's position. Kind of seems like there should be more stuff getting damaged and set on fire with the way the bed almost flies to the ceiling, but the glasses are unshattered and the floorboards are preserved too.

Anyway: Gr8 job m8, especially the lighting.
Cheers!

Viktor-jonsson responds:

Thank you so much. :D

More damage would be a good idea, breaking the glass and floorbord would be very cool accualy. Didnt accualy think about that for some reason... o_O

Impressive!

For some reason those red lines around his eyes look like they want to be a pair of spectacles to me :D
Can't unsee! :s

I like the environment design, but ye - I see what you mean. It kinda does look like he's an approaching enemy in the fighting game and the next stage is set in the labyrinth.
"ROUND ONE!"
"FIGHT!"

Cheers m8

Artist-Lost responds:

Thanks, yeah sometimes the squiggly line technique I use can cause some weirdness, especially with reds, since i'm red green color blind I forget to blend them if i'm not zoomed in.

I'm digging this.
Why not have the beard itself be on fire!
AND with traditional medium too! Looks so crisp from afar that I first took it for a digital painting.
Great job!

Cheers.

bloowabbit responds:

thanks !

Now THAT is a beard!
Finally drawing that really captures the "impressive" aspect of the stache-beard combo discriptor.

I really like the juxtaposition of simplicity in lines and colors vs the complexity of the background texture. Therefore I'm sad that you don't actually show the process of drawing all the nebulas in your speedpaint. They add the most oomph to it and are clearly the most interesting part in it.

I'm kind of suspicious of you taking it off somewhere and blending it in, but I'm also willing to let it slide because you did a good job with it :p

Cheers m8

Badoine responds:

Thank you !! :)

Yes, I finished recording but then I didn't really like the background so I modify it a little bit, reason why it is not in the speedpainting. I added more colors, and yes I used a texture to make the nebulas :/ My drawing skills are not really good so I had no idea how to make a nebula by myself, really sorry for that :/

Looks pretty crisp.
Something seems to be lacking though.
I think the piece would've benefited a lot if you amplifed the contrast between lights and darks of shadows and highlights.

It's sort of uniform brightness as of now and is percieved kind of flat.

I have a feeling we are going to see a lot more Jetpacks and Flamethrowers down the line :p

thisislaz responds:

Hey, thanks for your comment! Yeah I see what you mean, originally it was my intention to not push the lights and darks too much, to get this cartoony feel, but you might be right, might have overdone it. Think Im gonna go and try adding some extra layers to it now, to see if it would benefit from it :)

Strong lines! Much clarity! Such intensity!
Not a fan of the minimalism in the scenery though.
Cheers.

cryptc responds:

Thanks for your honest opinion! Your criticism is very appreciated.

Thought this was digital at first. Pretty solidly done piece.
Something rubs me the wrong way about how you've done their necks (especially the black one - it's like there's no distinction between it's cranium and the spine) but otherwise very admirable work!

Dam, the closer to deadline - the more solid works are starting to crop up in the entries! Haven't finished mine yet, but good luck to you m8.

Kaital responds:

I see what you mean regarding the neck/back thing... tbh it's not my greatest work, and I have to admit I've never drawn a dragon from that angle, which made things a bit more difficult :)

Thanks for the feedback though :)

And good luck to you as well :)

ZoMG Dovahkitten! (that 's the way you spell it btw)
The best idea ever! xD
How did that never even crossed my mind I have no idea!
SO GUD!
Put that nord helmet onto anything = instant win in my book.
This is gonna make the cut for sure.
Cheers m8 and GL!

Jelphy responds:

Thank you so much, I myself am not so confident, but we will see how it turns out :)

I just can't unsee the fact that there is no space for the dragon's front legs and it looks just like a big reptilian head with two wings stuck to the back of the cranium. xD
Could be some sort of Chiropteric dragon though, sure why not, or might just be me getting loopy.
Despite that: the Detalization of the objects in focus is exceptional - well worth being featured.
Cheers m8 an GL.

LukeF responds:

It was actually supposed to be Hunching down towards the kitten and be Bipedal having no Front legs, Like the wings are the arms in a way. But I can see where your coming from :P
& Thank you so much
